VTD Historic Predictions
A permanent scorecard of what VTD predicted versus what actually happened.
Predictions are saved on the day they are created. After the target date passes, VTD records the actual closing price and measures direction accuracy, forecast error, and whether the result stayed inside the original bear–bull range. Old predictions are never rewritten with hindsight.

Where the data comes from
SEC EDGAR, Yahoo/yfinance, and Finnhub are merged so one incomplete source does not control the entire analysis.
Read full data methodology
SEC EDGAR: official filings and XBRL financial facts. Yahoo/yfinance: prices, statements, company profile, valuation, ownership, dividends and analyst tables. Finnhub: earnings, IPOs, news, analyst/profile fallback and symbol search.
VTD caches last-good data and labels stale/cached values. Missing values remain missing rather than being invented.
VTD Overall Score — 0 to 100
VTD Score v2 is a coverage-aware, multi-factor model designed to be selective rather than reward one impressive metric.
How is VTD Score v2 calculated?
The score is built from seven research categories. VTD uses the best available official/reputable data, gives priority to reported fundamentals, and uses market/analyst information as corroborating evidence.
Growth uses revenue and earnings growth. Profitability evaluates profit/gross margins, ROE and free cash flow. Financial Health checks liquidity, debt/equity and cash versus debt. Valuation uses PEG and forward P/E when available. Analysts & Revisions looks at target upside, consensus and EPS estimate revisions. Momentum favors 52-week evidence over a single trading day. Earnings Quality measures actual EPS beat/miss consistency and surprise quality.
VTD also applies risk guardrails: negative profitability, negative free cash flow, very high leverage, or sharply negative estimate revisions can reduce the composite. Low data coverage can cap an otherwise high score so incomplete evidence cannot appear stronger than it is.
There is no guaranteed winning score. The purpose is to improve selectivity and consistency, then let VTD Historic Predictions measure whether the model actually performs over time.
Long-Term vs Swing
Long-Term reflects the fundamental VTD core. Swing blends that core with more current momentum.
See the difference
Long-Term increases the weight on Growth, Profitability, Financial Health and Valuation. Swing increases the weight on Momentum, analyst revisions and recent earnings quality while still retaining part of the Overall score. This lets a fundamentally strong company show a weaker swing setup when near-term price action is poor, or vice versa.
As VTD collects more history, these models can be validated separately rather than assuming one horizon works for every type of trade.
VTD Predictions
Scenario estimates are created for 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 1 year, 3 years and 5 years.
How are predictions produced?
Short horizons: VTD emphasizes Swing score, recent price momentum and volatility. Long horizons: it increasingly uses revenue/earnings growth, Long-Term score and the Wall Street mean target when available. Long-range growth assumptions deliberately decay rather than compounding an aggressive recent growth rate forever.
Every forecast saves its start price, base target, bear case, bull case, confidence, VTD scores and analyst target as they existed that day.
VTD Historic Predictions
The History page measures whether past VTD predictions were actually useful.
What does VTD measure?
After a target date passes, VTD records the first available closing price on or after that date. It then calculates direction accuracy, average and median absolute forecast error, and the percentage of actual outcomes that landed inside the original bear–bull range.
For 1-year predictions where a Wall Street target was saved, VTD also keeps the analyst target so VTD and Wall Street can eventually be compared on the same historical observations.
Earnings analysis
VTD compares Wall Street EPS/revenue expectations with a separate VTD estimate and updates after the report.
How does the VTD earnings estimate work?
The current earnings model begins with Wall Street consensus and applies a deliberately limited adjustment based on available revenue growth and earnings growth. The adjustment is capped so VTD cannot create an extreme forecast from one growth metric. It then labels the setup Beat, In Line, or Miss relative to consensus.
This is a research estimate—not inside information and not a guarantee of the report.
What confidence means
Confidence measures how much usable data supports the score; it is not the probability that the stock will rise.
How is confidence determined?
VTD starts confidence from the number of scoring components available, then caps it by overall data coverage from Company, Financials, Key Stats and Analysts. A high score with poor coverage therefore cannot masquerade as a highly certain conclusion.
Charts & options reference
Charts and options are included for research context even though VTD is not a live execution terminal.
How should I use Charts and Options?
Charts use Tradier as the primary market-data source with Yahoo as fallback with red/green candlesticks, volume, dates along the bottom, prices on the right, and recent support/resistance. Options use a Calls | Strike | Puts research chain with green Bid, red Ask, green positive changes, red negative changes, plus last, volume, open interest and implied volatility.
Both sections display source/freshness warnings. Charts support zoom/pan and touch gestures; income graphs can zoom horizontally. The layouts are mobile-responsive. Use your brokerage platform for real-time quotes, Greeks, spreads and order execution.
Income & dividend analysis
VTD uses actual trailing distributions where possible and separates historic market returns from your personal income projection.
How does the income projection work?
VTD can model DRIP, monthly contributions, distribution growth, stock-price growth, Conservative/Base/Aggressive scenarios, and compound portfolio/income visuals. If you do not override stock growth, the assumption blends available 1Y, 3Y annualized and 5Y annualized price history with greater weight on longer history. This is an assumption for planning, not a forecast guarantee.
IPO analysis
IPO research needs a different score because a newly listed company often has little or no public trading history.
How does the VTD IPO Score work?
VTD emphasizes available revenue growth, profitability, gross margin, liquidity, debt, operating cash flow and sector strength. Early analyst data receives only a small weight. Missing pre-IPO information lowers IPO data coverage instead of being filled with invented values.
VTD also compares sector, industry and business-description terms against your own watchlist. A ★ WATCHLIST MATCH badge means the new company appears related to something you already follow; tapping the stock or its public peers opens deeper research.
Strategy Plays alerts
Strategy Plays can be monitored by email without enabling broad market spam.
How do Strategy Plays alerts work?
They are off by default. In Alerts, choose a minimum VTD Strategy score and the setups you care about—Momentum, Breakout, Gap Up/Down, Trend Continuation or Reversal. VTD checks the current Strategy Plays scan during its monitoring cycle and emails only new qualifying ticker/setup combinations.
The score describes the quality of the detected technical setup; it is not a guaranteed win probability.
Important limitation
VTD is decision-support research. Free data can be delayed or incomplete, and unexpected events cannot be forecast reliably.
Read limitations
Scores and predictions are not personalized investment advice. Earnings surprises, dilution, acquisitions, regulatory actions, macro shocks, wars, rates and sentiment changes can make historical relationships fail. The Historic Predictions scorecard is designed specifically so VTD has to prove its usefulness rather than claim accuracy in advance.
